Responsibilities include: Running creative design and illustration studio which includes the following projects: Online animations and animated e-cards. Contemporary and editorial illustrations for online and print content, corporate identity packaging, Flash animation and design consultation.
Contract: Creative Environment Consultant, developing and designing creative studio spaces for new and existing companies.

Geographics Inc. Blaine, Washington.
2000 to 2002. Position: Creative Director

Responsibilities include: Establishing a new and viable creative art department and directing a group of 34 associates in both design, editorial, and pre-press requirements/duties. Proposed and upgraded the departments existing antiquated computer equipment and peripherals. Developed and implemented the server, backup system, network and company intranet. Thoroughly organized 20+ years of design and editorial files. Created and maintained a product library as well as a valuable department resource library. Created an on-site photography studio and re-designed the company's web site. www.geographics.com.

Daily responsibilities included: Coordinating with international offices in Australia, England, Mexico, China and Canada for their individual creative needs. Communication, negotiation and assignments of creative work with service bureaus, artists representatives and individual freelance artists. Maintained all legal contracts and forms. Implemented and change all company packaging and labels as well as created the new corporate identity. Responsible for the development of the company's trade show booth in the annual Shopa Paper Show. A 30 x 40 foot booth which included printing of all the large banners and super graphics for the corporate theatre structure, as well as the media kits, promotional catalogs/materials and all new stationery product. I designed many of the stationary items for Geographics which are on display in Office Depot, Target, WalMart and other mass merchandising centers. Responsible for the production of products from concept to final press checks and release.

Orange County Register Newspaper. Santa Ana, California.
1996 to 2000. Position: Senior Designer/Illustrator.

Responsibilities include:
New Development Leader:
Web lead, responsible for checking every web site or page design to keep within the restrictions of the web authoring software. I was also in charge of creating content and design for our departments intranet site that was used company wide for information and data transfer.

Computer:
As the Information Services Liaison, I was responsible for maintaining work-flow and growth within the company's systems changes. This included the research and written proposal for hardware and system upgrades and accompanying configurations required to accept work flow for the newly implemented Dynamic Publishing System.

Teaching:
Instructor for web site design classes utilizing current web building software. Implemented new guidelines for graphics team to follow in order to effectively design web sites and assist the New Media Department with web site requests from retail clients.

Special Sections:
Lead artist for the largest special section published by the Orange County Register. The Best of Orange County annually creates over $700,000 in revenue within its 300 pages of advertising. Also designed many of the other special section inserts including glossy magazine inserts geared toward the affluent Orange County population.

Advertising: Creating a multitude of advertising pieces for the promotion of the newspaper as well as our company's clients. This included weekly press checks.

Lakeshore Learning Materials. Los Angeles, California.
1991 to 1996. Position: Senior Illustrator/Designer

Responsibilities include: Developing visual presentations in the creation of toys and educational materials. Designed and produced 300+ pages of four-color catalogs for the promotion of products. Styled and directed photo shoots working with children for company product promotion for all five yearly produced catalogs. Created illustrations for toys, pamphlets, board games, educational materials, catalogs and company promotions. Developed the playful look to the inside of the company's on-site retail store as well as helped to produce the company's logo and corporate identity.

Creative Process Inc. Milwaukie, Oregon.
1989 to 1991. Position: Art Director

Responsibilities include: Sole designer for the production of advertising for all of the 119 Sentry Food Stores. Produced weekly newspaper insert for the promotion of sale items. This included, layout, proofing, coordinating and styling for photo shoots, press checks and meeting with many of the retail store owners to insure product quality. I would often create original illustrations for the front cover of the insert. Oversee budget and capital reports and direct art staff of three associates.

The Oregonian Newspaper (Creative Publishers). Portland, Oregon.
1985 to 1989. Position: Assistant Manager/Senior Graphic Designer

Responsibilities include: To oversee a staff of five designers who develop advertising pieces for display in the Oregonian Newspaper. Created many illustrations for the marketing department as well as developed newspaper advertising for the companies clients. Worked directly with sales department and delegated workload to art staff. Created content and illustrations for news product promotions.

Coeur d Alene Press Publishing (Newspaper). Coeur d Alene, Idaho.
1981 to 1984. Position: Art Director

Responsibilities include: Creating newspaper advertising for local advertisers. Illustrations for advertising and marketing department. Occasional news illustrations for feature and editorial pages. Created marketing/promotional design pieces for in-house, newspaper and mailers. Directed design staff or three associates.

Skills:
Design: Direct marketing and promotional materials, web sites, multi-media interfaces, newspaper and magazine advertising, catalogs and glossy insert magazines. Stationery product design, packaging and P.O.P.

Illustration and Traditional Mediums: Marker, pen & ink, line art, hand lettering, wash, watercolor, airbrushing, typography, pencil renderings and cartooning.
